Let Rayalaseema Be Known for Development, Not Drought, Says Pawan Kalyan

Let Rayalaseema be known for development, not drought, says Pawan Kalyan

The three-phase Horticulture Hub plan aims to revolutionize agricultural development in the Rayalaseema region, promising widespread benefits for nearly 9.6 lakh farmers. It will create 9 lakh acres of new ayacut and stabilize an additional 4.3 lakh acres, significantly transforming water management and farming prospects.

Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that the origins of this ambitious plan trace back to his extensive Yuva Galam Padayatra, during which he engaged closely with farmers and local communities in Rayalaseema. These interactions revealed the acute challenges faced by the region, particularly water scarcity and underdeveloped horticultural infrastructure. Drawing from these insights, the government formulated a strategic approach to enhance irrigation facilities and horticultural initiatives.

The first phase focuses on expanding irrigation coverage to new lands, which will involve the development of water resources such as tanks, canals, and reservoirs. This foundational step is designed to increase agricultural productivity directly by bringing barren or uncultivated lands into cultivation.

The second phase is dedicated to stabilizing the ayacut in existing cultivable areas. By ensuring regulated and consistent water supply, farmers gain the assurance needed to invest in quality horticulture practices. This phase is critical for sustaining current agricultural output and preventing crop failures due to irregular water availability.

The third and final phase emphasizes the expansion of the horticulture sector by promoting advanced farming techniques, improving access to markets, and encouraging diversification of crops. It aims to transform Rayalaseema into a major horticultural hub, which will positively impact farmers’ incomes and boost the regional economy.

Lokesh, reflecting on the development strategy, stated that the insights gained from direct farmer engagement during the Padayatra were instrumental in shaping the plan. The emphasis on inclusive dialogue underlines the government’s commitment to people-centric growth policies and tackling regional problems with targeted solutions.

This integrated plan not only addresses immediate agricultural needs but also lays a sustainable foundation for future advancements. With proper implementation, the Horticulture Hub promises increased employment opportunities, enhanced food security, and improved living standards across Rayalaseema.

Furthermore, the plan aligns with broader state and national objectives of rural development, water conservation, and agri-economic growth. The Deputy CM reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring that these measures yield tangible results, fostering a resilient agricultural ecosystem that can withstand climatic challenges.

In conclusion, the three-phase Horticulture Hub plan represents a transformative vision for Rayalaseema, turning its challenges into opportunities. By benefiting nearly a million farmers, expanding irrigation, and stabilizing extensive agricultural lands, this initiative heralds a new era of prosperity and development for the region.
